Broward B-cycle Hires Kathryn Moore as Program Manager

By Broward B-cycle Jul 24, 2012 | 12:00PM

(Broward County, FL) - The Broward County B-cycle bike sharing program has hired Kathryn Reid Moore as its new Program Manager as part of its effort to continue the program’s growth, and bring the benefits of bike sharing to more residents and visitors. Moore joins Broward B-cycle with strong experience in building cycling encouragement programs for the city of Miami, as a Special Aide to former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz on transit and sustainability projects.

Broward B-cycle, an active form of public transportation,is facilitated by Broward County Transit resulting from an agreement between B-cycle and the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. B-cycle is a partnership among Trek Bicycle, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, and Humana, Inc., one of the leading health care companies in Florida and a presenting sponsor of Broward B-cycle. Funding is also made available from an intermodal grant in the amount of $311,000 from FDOT for bikes and infrastructure. Broward B-cycle opened on December 14, 2011 with stations in Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, and installed seven new stations in March of 2012. The network connects Hallandale, Hollywood, Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, and Pompano Beach.

With 26 stations and 275 B-cycles currently in the system, Broward B-cycle serves over 9,836 registered users, 342 annual members, and in its first six months of operation has prevented 53,962 lbs of CO2 from being put in the air by helping users bike 56,466 miles instead of going by car.

“Broward B-cycle gives locals and tourists alike a chance to explore South Florida in an entirely new, sustainable and healthy way,” said Kathryn Moore, the program’s new manager. “I’m proud to be a part of this revolutionary program and I look forward to expanding B-cycle in the coming months.”

Jun13Bryan Baker Michael,I came in back in May and bought the DVDs from you. I am on week four right now and I abotlusely love it. I've been working out for a long time, but nothing that I have tried is as challenging and fun as your program. I'm getting leaner and meaner by the day WORD.

Thank you for updating on the house redemoling! I know it can be frustrating because it took the contractors 11 months to do our kitchen, bathroom, room addition & deck 3 years ago. I was ready to go into an asylum!I had a dream that Pat got up and walked!! I guess it must be hope magnified in a dream. Let us know about the open house party. I can help with food or something,

Thankfully, Graham counts to 10! The great part about the song is that now he sings his way to 10! It is the cesutt thing. Also, I don't know if you can tell from the video, but his "seven" sounds like "seMen".. so cute! And honestly, he couldn't say seven really well until he became a Nick-a-holic! :)

As a general rule, no. Most iasnrnuce companies will not pay for medical services before the date of coverage begins. The hospital may have a program that helps those with no iasnrnuce. Ask to see a social worker there and ask them if they have any programs to help cover costs. +3Was this answer helpful?

Hey! I am looking for a phragootpher for an outdoor party on 11/11 starting at 5:30 pm. We are having another event the following night (11/12) starting at 6:00. I guess it's technically a wedding but there won't be a ceremony, preacher, isle, etc. Friday night is a cook-out and Saturday is just a party. Would you have any interest in something like this?

Dear Broward Commissioners and County Administrator,Please do not cut $575,000 from Human Services and the Family Success Center program and plaese continue to contract with Hispanic Unity and the Urban League for these services. Our community benefits tremendously from the work these organizations do.Thank you,

  • Lizabeth | Oct 11 5:23 PM

Do you think there could be a large crash this month? there have been stories of opiton purchases of 2.25 million contracts, up from a monthly average of 20 or 30 thousand. Are these stories just lies, or is there a possibility of a large market crash in october?

  • Jacques | Oct 11 3:57 PM

It would be completely irlspeonsibre for our public officials to turn away matching funds of 75% to 100% when all the money will help the most desperate babies, children and adults whose economic crises could be our crisis too and we would need the help of these two exemplary agencies Hispanic Unity and Urban League.

  • Cristiie | Oct 11 3:54 PM

Hi Tony, sorry I didn't reply earlier, I've had a few irnentet woes. I haven't had any rechroming done so can't recommend anyone to do this, maybe some other readers have? I was thinking of rechroming my handlebars and got some quotes but did not go ahead with it, I like the character of the chipped chrome I have decided. It was about $60 for the handlebars.

I have a original 1970 s Malvern Star speed Dragster. I would love to reostre the bike to it's original glory. The guards and rims need to be re-chromed alone with the handle bar. I want a good job done and I was wondering if someone could tell me who does a great job. I have looked at some blogs about a place in Hamilton and Cardiff, they don't seem to get a good rap. I would really appreciate some help. Many Thanks.

  • Rachmat | Oct 11 2:48 PM

I heard of this website from a co-worker/friend. I rtirseeged for the conference immediately! I'm really looking forward to it. I have a 10 year old son with low functioning Autism. It will be so nice to be encouraged by Godly women who have the best interests at heart for moms like me. Praying that this is the beginning of something great for our community. It is much needed.

  • Ilvan | Oct 11 2:45 PM

I couldn't agree with you more, I live in Montreal, the home of the Bixi blccyie sharing program. This city has a huge effort to get people to commute on their bikes. Since the city has opened all these new bike paths I haven't use my car to get to work in almost 4 years. I think that bike paths is a great way to reduce automotive commuting. Let's hope more cities move towards bike paths as a way reduce urban traffic.

  • Ehan | Oct 11 10:40 AM

This is probably the best bike triaelr designs that I've ever seen. With features like solar and wind power, solar hot water, sink, stove, cooling fan and mister, shower. What really blew me away was the built in solar food dryer. Now how many people have one of those in their triaelrs? Did you notice that it looks like he has what might be a herb garden on the front also.I suppose for a more permanent design it would be better to curve the front to more of a teardrop shape for less drag.

Julie, I know what you mean. It's been much more exciting for my yoeusngt to use the pedal-less bike, watching her older sister cruise ahead of her. She knows what's coming! If you have a friend who can loan a bike with pedals to your son for an afternoon, that might do the trick. Or, you can just explain that pedals are really hard, which is why he doesn't have many friends who are riding bikes yet. Additionally, if you can create a route with a natural reward at the end (finish at a park or friends house) that will get him going. Or, you can make a rule to bike for 5 minutes every day so that he can learn and get his real bike soon Just a few thoughts. Keep us posted!

Fantastic stuff isn't it?!I have been following your blog from the time you serattd and have taken a keen interest since I also have a child this age and for the past 2 years we have travel as often as we can on our Xtracycle.Just like you guys we are now making the transition to one of our kids riding a two wheeler on the road. luckily there are plenty of bike paths. The great thing about having the Xtracycle is that if we travel too far I can strap the little bike to the back
